Who We Are
Pelag Foundation, established on January 5, 2023, is a dynamic NGO based in Almora, Uttarakhand, founded by youth activists Ms. Kritika Bisht and Ms. Ritika Bisht. The organization is dedicated to promoting sustainable, equitable, and participatory development in rural and remote Himalayan regions. It works across key sectors including education, healthcare, women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and sports.
In a short span, Pelag Foundation has positively impacted around 2,500 individuals, especially in underserved hill communities. The organization focuses on empowering women, children, and youth by improving access to essential services and livelihood opportunities. Its approach emphasizes community participation, local resource utilization, and trauma-informed care.
Pelag Foundation is recognized as a social impact startup by DPIIT, Government of India (Startup India Registration No. DIPP189827). In 2025, it received the prestigious Grassroot Changemaker Award by Australian Awards for its impactful grassroots work. The foundation is also listed in the UN DESA Civil Society (eSANGO) database, reflecting its global commitment to sustainable development and social justice.
